Roberta Mickey, OFS, a member of St. Joseph Fraternity's formation team, received the Immaculata Award Dec. 8 from Bishop Robert J. Cunningham at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse.

The award recognizes “those who generously and unselfishly give of themselves to their parishes," the diocese announced.

The 2013 awards were presented to parishioners from more than 70 parishes at a standing-room-only vespers service.

Fr. Mark Pasik
Fr. Mark Pasik, pastor of St. Mark's Church, nominated Roberta, describing her as a "tremendously devoted parishioner." She is a Eucharistic minister, lector, sacristan, and is involved in parish committees. "She's always available," Father Pasik said, adding: "There's no end to her service."

Another fraternity member, Jo Ginnity, OFS, also from St. Mark's, received the Immaculata Award in 2011 when it was created by Bishop Cunningham as part of the diocese’s 125th anniversary celebration.
